Past, present, and future
Last week I went back to Gibsons for my 10-year high school reunion: Elphinstone Secondary, class of '96. The crowd that I hung out with wasn't there, owing to their attendance at the wedding of one of my ex-boyfriends, which gave me plenty of time to catch up with all my other old high school friends. About a third of our class of roughly 120 showed up, and girls out-numbered boys by almost three to one, making the latter quite impressed with the turnout.
It was loads of fun to see all those old faces, most of which still look really young, and see what everyone is up to now. Some people have followed their dreams, others have totally exceeded all expectations, and there were a couple people I talked to in stages of transition similar to me. The most fun was connecting with a guy I had a crush on in grade 10 when we sat together in math and got along really well. Seems like we still get along really well, and it was very nice to have a week of romance with such a great guy before having to put my nose to the grindstone for the next year.
So tomorrow I'm leaving New West for good. Well, today, really, since it's 2am. I'll head up to Gibsons, get some work done on my car, and visit a couple friends who I didn't get a chance to catch up with last weekend. Then I'm off to Victoria on Wednesday for a few days of relaxing before starting my BA in Applied Communications at Royal Roads. And where the road will take me after that, well, it's gonna be a fun ride.
